Oh, lovely dog story. We're all suckers for those, aren't we? I was going to write my little dog's story when I wrote the Flash Memoirs, this morning, but I didn't. The story is too sad. It's not for right now.
Thanks Daisy. There are several things that can go on my mini-memoir posts, so I'm not short of stories. But that one, no, you're right, the time is not now.
Not sure who rescues who in these circumstances, pretty sure they do a lot of the saving, and I think it says a lot about all sots of things that we find some of our most deepest connections with animals.
They do remember their trauma though, and starved dogs (and cats) can never quite relax around food. Bless them all so. xx
I've never actually had a pet of my own, but have recently seen the impact they can have, especially for humans who are poorly. Be it a cat, a dog, they just seem to have a sixth sense
Lovely story, thankyou for sharing. Family lives really do shape themselves around pets. We have 2 house cats, one is very much mine (or more accurately I am very much hers) and a visiting cat who belongs to a neighbour and hangs out with us in the garden - he has adopted my husband pretty well who gets more affection from him than our own cats. We don't know his name so we have called him Doug. 🐾🐾🐾
We have had two cats who have adopted us in this house, one is fast asleep on the settee right now when she has a perfectly good home two doors away. We keep taking her back, she returns fifteen minutes later. Ever read the book Six Dinner Sid? 🐈⬛
Ah what a great story. My Billy was dumped at a refuge in France at 8 weeks with his very different looking brother. Full of fleas and worms, a complete mess. A wonderful organisation that rehomes dogs in France (and further afield ) Les Amis des Animaux fostered him with a Dutch Family whilst they advertised for a permanent home, it took 6 months for me to find him and he was 7mths when I took him home. He was a bundle of challenge, would take on any dog that looked at him, resizing himself to resemble the cartoon Tasmanian Devil. We went to dog training classes, and they were some of my best days, we both loved them. I can never hope to better him, never will, he is my shadow, my great joy, my favourite times in life have Billy involved in there somewhere. He is now my go to dog for socialising other dogs, he is an incredible teacher.
We never truly know what they have been through. The fact that they can trust again is a miracle. Wonderful that you have found each other, your patience with him has brought out his best qualities. Thank you for sharing this. 🙏 Much love to Billy. ❤️

Take care, you will know when the time is right. 🙏❤️

I love to see the deep bond between animals and owners. When you experience it for yourself there truly isn't anything like it. 😍🔥

Yes I have also seen first hand the amazing work of therapy dogs and how they change lives too. I'll save that one for another post. ❤️🙏

Dogs are such beautiful and loyal beings! Our Maltipoo has chosen me as her person and I’m not sure how I earned such devotion. It is precious.
Yes, it is do precious when you are the chosen one. They have a knowing look. They connect to your heart.
