As my writing life develops, I’ve been doing some research on words that resonate with me. I have discovered I have many. I like words that look within (heartfelt, contemplate ), that sound funny (flibbertigibbet, quibble), that help me to ponder (solace, kismet), ooze connection (kindred, fused) and words that show kindness and care (compassion, tolerance).
I have always been curious as to what the word spirit means to me. I am often asked if I am spiritual, but I am not always sure of the answer. I wrote this to express what I think spirit means, but this may be very different to other perceptions out there.
Spirit, don’t leave! Your presence shows your truth. It illuminates your being when words are not enough. Sing spirit, let the world know what you feel, who you are, what you think. Your uniqueness knows no bounds, it cannot be replicated by onlookers, it is yours alone.
Be mindful of standing in full sun and not in the shadow where you are sometimes tempted to be. Hold your arms high and wide, breathe in the freedom of being you. Your fizz makes the crowds shiver, excited to be in your midst. Your cries of honesty unleash something from within - they mirror your exhilaration of letting go.
Dear spirit, if only we could bottle your elixir, to be drunk when feelings are depleted. Your essence, your effervescence topping you and others up to new heights of elation. Your force sparkles and each twinkle shows us all the way to our own path. Keep being you! The world need you to be you.
It's hard to put a description on something you know exists, but isn't there. I love the spirit world, that other worldly knowing that connects us all to the earth without us realising.
